The Heathman Hotel

The Heathman Hotel’s motto—Where Service Is Still an Art—well suits the only hotel in Portland’s downtown cultural district. Adjacent to the Portland Center for the Performing Arts, just steps from the Portland Art Museum, Oregon Historical Society, and elm-shaded South Park Blocks, The Heathman practices highly personalized service in a traditional setting with a surprisingly modern edge.

Founded in 1927 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, The Heathman replaced its former reception desk with three European-style personal concierge stations better suited to guests’ individual needs. Lavishly decorated with teak, travertine, marble, brass, and steel, the lobby’s art deco and oriental touches echo the adjoining 1920s Tea Court lounge. Here, in a setting of regal blue and gold, guests soak up a sense of place over afternoon tea or live jazz in the evening.
