If you are looking for an elite Caribbean Resort and you want to quick-start your hot Caribbean holiday and a rapid transfer, then look no farther than the all-inclusive, and very special Hermitage Bay Hotel, which is considered a uppermost Antigua Luxury Resort; it is situated on the west coast and also offers a complimentary airport shuttle.
Hermitage Bay is incontrovertibly a resort with a difference and a rare combination of English style and tropical beauty. It offers only 25 very sheltered colonial cottage suites, divided between Hillside where they have private plunge pools, and eight Beach Cottages in two rows with the front row having panoramic views of the beach. If this is crucial, you need to specify when booking your Hermitage Bay vacation. The whole place is set in over 10 acres of tropical gardens above a beautiful white sand beach and turquoise sea.
The Hillside Cottages are superior and have complete privacy, perfect for an Antiguan honeymoon, even though all the cottages at this magnificent resort come with a/c and obvious king sized bed, flat screen TV, DVD player, Apple type docking device, wireless broadband internet, as well as all the usual bits and pieces you expect to find in a luxury resort like this.
Every cottage also has a large veranda with double day beds and plantation day chairs. A few things to note about the Hermitage Bay fashionable all-inclusive resort is some of which are a big plus and others simply to be aware of.
The views are unforgettable and the staff is very helpful, as you would expect from a luxury five star resort. The idea of the personal butler is terrific and you will meet him first when you are shown your room; he will be responsible for your well being and comfort.
The Hillside cottages are private but access from them to the restaurant excludes high heeled shoes and possibly even smart clothes, which mean you will find the standard of dress in the evenings poor by exclusive resort standards, with gentlemen in shorts and ladies in flip flops, but all adding to the feeling of taking it easy. If you like dressing up you may not like this and it certainly makes the walk up at night hard work, thank goodness there are buggies even though they could sometimes be a bit noisy.
Some guests have complained of a feeling of being eaten alive…. by mosquitoes and sand flies, but a bit of spray and covering up in the evenings usually dramatically reduce this trouble. It is the tropics after all and nearby Jolly Harbour was previously called Mosquito Bay!! You should also be aware that there can be jellyfish invasion at certain times of the year in the small but very pretty bay, but they are harmless, it’s just a bit weird if you feel one swimming very close by.
Meals are of a very high standard, and the friendliness of service from all the staff is almost unflawed, although service is at Caribbean pace, which is sometimes a little slow, but then why are you in a hurry… The meals are usually very creatively prepared and the day’s catch of fish of the day is usually spectacular. Most tastes are well catered for in a restaurant with a relaxed mood.
The water sports staff members are very helpful, but you need to find out whether or not water skiing is included in your all inclusive rate.
There is almost never any queuing for sun beds, drinks or meals; the staff care is terrific, including the way your mini bar in your room will be kept topped up with the kind of drinks you enjoy.
The Hermitage Bay will leave you feeling that you have been at a luxury, very exclusive hotel and you will go home possibly weighing a few pounds more and certainly feeling very relaxed and happy. Their claim to be one of the Caribbean’s most exclusive resorts is not without foundation, and it certainly ranks at the top insofar as an Antigua all inclusive resort is concerned; the Hillside Cottages are the complete Antigua honeymoon solution or simply to enjoy hot Caribbean holidays.
